Mrs. Dyer was raised in Davidson, N.C. Her father, Edward Jones Erwin, was a professor at Davidson college from 1920 to 1954. She was the class mascot for 1925. She attended classes at Davidson in 1934-1935 and went on to graduate from Agnes Scott College in 1938. She married Robert Dyer in 1940 and has been active in the Davidson community.
